The Short Version
This page is a curated directory of registered clinical trials that study adipose-derived and mesenchymal stem cells, organized by medical condition. Each entry links directly to its record on ClinicalTrials.gov, the official government registry, where you can see the current phase, status, eligibility, and contacts. Every trial listed uses a real registration number. It is important to be clear about what this is and is not. It is an educational research reference, not a list of available treatments and not medical advice. These cell therapies are investigational and are not FDA-approved for the conditions shown. A trial being registered does not mean it is proven, safe, or effective. And banking your own tissue with SaveMyFat does not enroll you in any of these studies or make you eligible for one. Enrollment is controlled by each trial’s investigators.
How to Use This Directory
Almost no adipose banking company keeps a real, sourced trial directory on its own site. We built one because it is genuinely useful, and because it models the right way to read this research: skeptically, and straight from the primary source. Use the table below to see, by condition, which registered studies exist, then click any NCT number to open the official record and confirm the details yourself.

How to Read a Clinical Trial Listing
Every entry has the same parts, and knowing them helps you read the table and the linked record with a clear eye:
- NCT number: the unique ID for the study on ClinicalTrials.gov. Always confirm a trial by this number.
- Phase: roughly, Phase 1 tests safety, Phase 2 tests safety and early effect, Phase 3 tests effectiveness in larger groups. Later phase is not proof of benefit.
- Status: where the study is in its life cycle (recruiting, active and not recruiting, completed). This changes often, so verify it on the live record.
- Sponsor: the institution or company running the study.
- Cell source: whether the study uses your own cells (autologous) or donor cells (allogeneic), and whether they are adipose-derived or another mesenchymal source.
One more habit worth building: be skeptical of any clinic that calls an expensive, ready-to-buy treatment a clinical trial. Legitimate trials are registered with an NCT number, list their eligibility and sponsor openly, and are overseen by an ethics board. They generally do not charge patients for the investigational product itself. If something is marketed as a trial but asks for large out-of-pocket payments and promises results, treat that as a warning sign. Trial Directory by Condition
The table below groups registered studies by condition category. Every entry links to its official ClinicalTrials.gov record, and the status shown is a July 2026 snapshot that you should re-check on the record, since trial status changes over time. This is a research snapshot, not a treatment offering. A short note on what each category covers, then the table.
Orthopedics. Orthopedic applications, especially knee osteoarthritis, are among the most studied uses of adipose-derived cells. Trials look at whether an injection of a person’s own cells affects joint pain and function. Results so far are mixed and preliminary, and no such use is FDA-approved.
Autoimmune and inflammatory. Researchers are studying whether mesenchymal and adipose-derived cells can calm an overactive immune response in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. This work is early stage, and these are investigational studies, not approved treatments.
Neurology. Neurological trials, including several at Mayo Clinic, are testing adipose-derived cells delivered into the spinal fluid for conditions such as multiple system atrophy and ALS. These are difficult diseases, the studies are early phase, and none has produced an approved therapy.
Organ disease. Heart, kidney, and lung studies use mesenchymal cells from adipose and other sources. Some, such as a Danish heart failure trial, have completed; others are ongoing. As everywhere on this page, completion is not the same as approval.
Dermatology and aesthetics. Skin research explores whether adipose-derived cells affect inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis. This is an active but early area, and marketed aesthetic stem cell products are frequently unproven and should be treated with caution.
Gastrointestinal. The most advanced GI work involves adipose-derived cells for the complex perianal fistulas that can accompany Crohn’s disease. One adipose product, darvadstrocel, reached approval in Europe for that narrow use, though a later confirmatory trial did not meet its goals, a reminder that even advanced programs can fall short.
