What This Page Covers

This page gives general guidance on what adipose (fat) tissue banking typically costs. The figures here are industry-average ranges for education, not a quote, an offer, or SaveMyFat’s own prices. Actual pricing is set by the provider you work with. Banking covers collecting your own tissue, processing it, and cryopreserving it for the long term through a U.S.-based tissue bank. It is a preservation service, not a treatment, and the cost does not include or promise any therapy.

Key takeaways:

  • The prices shown are general industry-average guidance, not a quote or SaveMyFat’s actual prices. Your provider sets the real cost.
  • Banking typically covers the collection procedure, lab processing, and long-term cryopreservation.
  • Banking is preservation, not treatment. The cost does not include any therapy, which would be a separate, FDA-regulated matter.
  • A U.S.-based tissue bank (L2 Bio) processes and stores the tissue. SaveMyFat coordinates the connection.
  • Under certain guidelines, eligible relatives may be considered for future use. This is not guaranteed.
Important: SaveMyFat connects patients and providers with a U.S.-based tissue bank for adipose tissue banking. SaveMyFat does not collect, process, or store tissue itself, and it does not provide treatments or cures for any disease or medical condition. Most adipose-derived cell products that are more than minimally manipulated are regulated as biologics and are not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The prices on this page are general industry-average estimates for education only. They are not a quote or an offer, and actual costs are set by your provider. Banking your tissue today does not guarantee eligibility, access, or clinical benefit from any future therapy or clinical trial. This page is educational and is not medical advice. Talk with your own licensed healthcare provider about any medical decision.

What Adipose Stem Cells Really Cost

One collection yields many cryopreserved vials. The figures below are general guidance on typical industry costs, not a quote.

Adipose Stem Cells

One collection from your own fat tissue creates a personal tissue bank. Under certain guidelines, eligible relatives may be considered later; this is not guaranteed.

Some people weigh banking earlier for the future; see our guide to longevity and tissue banking.

Adipose Stem Cell Harvest, Processing, Storage.

$8,000 - $15,000+

This general range typically covers the collection procedure, lab processing, and long-term cryopreservation of many vials of your own tissue. It is guidance on typical industry costs, not a quote or an offer of treatment. Actual pricing is set by your provider.

Your own tissue is collected, processed in U.S. labs, and cryopreserved for the long term. Banking is preservation, not treatment; any future use would be decided with a licensed physician.

What the Price Covers, and What It Does Not

The range on this page is general industry guidance, not a quote or SaveMyFat’s own price. Typically, adipose tissue banking costs cover the collection procedure, laboratory processing, and long-term cryopreservation of your own tissue through a U.S.-based tissue bank. SaveMyFat’s role is to connect you and your provider with that bank.

The cost does not include, and does not promise, any treatment. Adipose-derived cell uses for medical conditions are investigational and not FDA-approved. If a lawful, FDA-regulated pathway ever applied to you, that would be a separate matter decided with a licensed physician and priced separately. Always confirm exact pricing and what it includes with your provider before deciding.

Step by Step

How It Works (4 Steps)

Four steps from consultation to long-term storage. No hospital stay. No lengthy recovery. All done in the U.S.

Initial Consultation

Meet with a SaveMyFat partner provider to discuss your goals, review the process and its limits, and see whether banking fits your planning. This is educational, not a medical recommendation.

Harvesting

A 30-minute in-office procedure collects about 20cc of fat under local anesthesia. Like any procedure, it carries risks such as bruising or infection, which you should discuss with your provider.

Process and Store

A U.S.-based tissue bank (L2 Bio) isolates and cryopreserves your tissue in a secure, FDA-compliant facility. SaveMyFat connects you with that bank; it does not process or store tissue itself.

If a Future Pathway Applies

If you and a licensed physician ever pursue a lawful, FDA-regulated pathway, your stored tissue can be located and shipped to your provider without a new collection. This does not guarantee that any therapy will be available or appropriate.

Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions!

Many years. Cryopreservation keeps tissue stored at very low temperatures in a secure U.S.-based facility. Storage does not treat anything and does not guarantee future use.
Most people report minimal discomfort. The procedure typically uses local anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes. Like any procedure it carries risks such as bruising or infection, which you should discuss with your provider.
Eligible first-degree relatives may qualify under certain legal and clinical guidelines. Eligibility is not guaranteed. Ask your provider what may apply to your family.
Clinical trials set their own eligibility criteria, controlled by the investigators. Having tissue banked does not enroll you or guarantee eligibility. L2 Bio is recruiting for its FDA-authorized (investigational) Phase 2b Crohn’s disease trial, but participation depends on that study’s criteria. Talk with a licensed physician.
Pricing varies by provider and location, and the figures on this page are general industry-average guidance, not a quote. Contact a SaveMyFat partner provider for specific details.
Adipose-derived and mesenchymal stromal cells are being studied in registered clinical trials for various applications, but these uses are investigational and not FDA-approved. Banking simply preserves your own tissue; it is not a treatment and does not promise any future use.
Banking is not a treatment you access on demand. Adipose-derived cell uses are investigational, and any future use would depend on FDA-regulated pathways and your physician’s judgment. Stored tissue being available does not mean a treatment is available.
Because banked tissue is your own, it avoids the donor-matching questions associated with tissue from other people. It is not risk-free: collection carries normal procedure risks such as bruising or infection. Processing happens in FDA-compliant U.S. laboratories. Discuss risks with your provider.
