# Wellness and Healthy Aging

Preserve your own adipose tissue now. Under certain guidelines, eligible relatives may be considered later.

Banking is preservation, not treatment.

## What This Page Covers

This page explains how adipose (fat) tissue banking relates to wellness and healthy aging. Banking preserves your own tissue now through cryopreservation. SaveMyFat connects you and your provider with a U.S.-based tissue bank. It is important to be clear: banking is not an anti-aging treatment, it does not slow aging or restore vitality, and adipose-derived cell uses for wellness are investigational and not FDA-approved. It simply keeps your own tissue available while the science develops.

**Key takeaways:**

- Banking preserves your own adipose tissue through cryopreservation. It is not an anti-aging or wellness treatment.
- A U.S.-based tissue bank processes and cryopreserves the tissue. SaveMyFat coordinates the connection.
- Adipose-derived cell uses for wellness, longevity, or aging are investigational and are not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Under certain guidelines, eligible first-degree relatives may be considered for future use. This is not guaranteed.
- Any future use depends on FDA decisions, available pathways, and your physician’s judgment.

**Important:** SaveMyFat connects patients and providers with a U.S.-based tissue bank for adipose tissue banking. SaveMyFat does not collect, process, or store tissue itself, and it does not provide treatments or cures for any disease or medical condition. Most adipose-derived cell products that are more than minimally manipulated are regulated as biologics and are not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Adipose-derived cell uses for wellness, longevity, or aging are investigational and are not FDA-approved. Banking your tissue today does not guarantee eligibility, access, or clinical benefit from any future therapy or clinical trial. This page is educational and is not medical advice. Talk with your own licensed healthcare provider about any medical decision.

## Your Own Tissue. An Informed Choice.

Adipose tissue banking is a way to preserve your own fat tissue, and the cells within it, through cryopreservation (long-term storage at very low temperatures). It is a preservation service, not a therapy and not an anti-aging treatment. SaveMyFat connects you and your provider with a U.S.-based tissue bank; it does not collect, process, or store tissue itself. Whether stored tissue could ever be used depends on future FDA decisions and a physician’s judgment. Adipose-derived cell uses for wellness or aging are investigational and are not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How It Works

#### Collected Once. Stored for the Long Term.

Fat (adipose) tissue is a rich, accessible source of cells that scientists study. In a short in-office procedure, a provider collects a small amount of your adipose tissue, and a U.S.-based laboratory processes and cryopreserves it. Storing your tissue now keeps your own biological material available. It does not slow aging, treat any condition, or guarantee any future benefit.

- A single collection can yield multiple cryopreserved vials
- Your own tissue, so no donor matching
- Processed and stored in the United States

Family Use

#### Eligible Relatives May Be Considered.

When you bank your own tissue, under certain legal and medical guidelines eligible first-degree blood relatives may be considered for future use. Eligibility is not guaranteed and is decided by a physician within a lawful pathway. Banking is preservation, not treatment.

- First-degree relatives may be considered
- Eligibility is not guaranteed
- Decided by a licensed physician

The SaveMyFat Advantage

#### Preserve Now. Decide Later, With Your Physician.

Some clinics collect and use cells on the same day, outside FDA-regulated pathways. SaveMyFat takes a more conservative route: we connect you with a bank that preserves your own tissue for the long term, so it is documented and available if a lawful, FDA-regulated option ever becomes relevant to you. Banking does not enroll you in any treatment, and any future use would be decided with a licensed physician.

- One collection can yield many cryopreserved vials
- Your own tissue, preserved through cryopreservation
- Stored and documented for potential future use

Why Bank Now

#### Preserving Your Own Tissue Earlier.

Research suggests that the quantity and characteristics of cells in the body can change with age. Some people choose to bank earlier for that reason. This is a personal decision about preservation, not a treatment, and it does not guarantee any future benefit. Any future use would be investigational and decided by a licensed physician.

We explore this further in our guide to [longevity and tissue banking](https://savemyfat.com/longevity-and-tissue-banking/).

- Some people choose to bank earlier
- One collection, long-term storage
- Preservation, not a promise of benefit

## What Wellness Banking Is, and What It Is Not

Adipose tissue banking is a preservation service. A partner provider collects a small amount of your own fat tissue, a U.S.-based tissue bank processes and cryopreserves it, and SaveMyFat connects you with that bank. People interested in wellness and healthy aging sometimes choose to bank earlier.

It is not an anti-aging therapy, and it does not slow aging, boost energy, or restore vitality. Those would be treatment claims, and adipose-derived cell products that are more than minimally manipulated are regulated as biologics under [21 CFR Part 1271](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-21/chapter-I/subchapter-L/part-1271) that are not FDA-approved to treat any condition. The FDA’s [consumer alert on regenerative medicine products](https://www.fda.gov/vaccines-blood-biologics/consumers-biologics/consumer-alert-regenerative-medicine-products-including-stem-cells-and-exosomes) explains this. Banking preserves your tissue; any future use would be investigational and decided by a licensed physician.

Why SaveMyFat

## A Compliance-First Approach to Banking

U.S.-Based Labs

FDA-Registered Facilities

Your Own Cells

Can eligible family members use my banked tissue?

Under certain legal and medical guidelines, eligible first-degree blood relatives may be considered for future use of your banked tissue. Eligibility is not guaranteed and depends on the pathway, the relationship, and the regulations in place at that time.

How much tissue does one collection yield?

A single collection can yield many cryopreserved vials of your own tissue. Storing more preserves more options. This does not promise any treatment; adipose-derived cell uses are investigational and not FDA-approved.

Why do some people bank earlier?

Some choose to bank earlier because research suggests cell characteristics can change with age. This is a personal preservation decision, not a treatment, and no future benefit is guaranteed.

Is banked tissue my own (autologous)?

Yes. Banked tissue is your own, which avoids donor-matching questions. It is not risk-free; collection carries normal procedure risks. It is not a wellness or anti-aging treatment.

Where is my tissue processed and stored?

In FDA-registered U.S. facilities with strict quality controls. SaveMyFat connects you with the bank; it does not process or store tissue itself. There is no overseas shipping.

## Frequently Asked Questions

How long can adipose tissue be stored?

Many years. Cryopreservation keeps tissue stored at very low temperatures in a secure U.S.-based facility. Storage does not treat anything and does not guarantee future use.

Is the collection procedure painful?

Most people report minimal discomfort. The procedure typically uses local anesthesia and takes under 30 minutes. Like any procedure it carries risks such as bruising or infection, which you should discuss with your provider.

Why is fat used instead of bone marrow?

Fat is an abundant, accessible source of cells that researchers study, and collecting it is less invasive than a bone marrow draw. This is about preservation, not a claim that either source treats a condition.

Can family members use my banked tissue?

Eligible first-degree relatives may qualify under certain legal and clinical guidelines. Eligibility is not guaranteed. Ask your provider what may apply to your family.

What does adipose tissue banking cost?

Pricing varies by provider and location. Contact a SaveMyFat partner provider for specific details, and see our pricing page for general guidance.

What might banked tissue be used for in the future?

Adipose-derived and mesenchymal stromal cells are being studied in registered clinical trials for various applications, but these uses are investigational and not FDA-approved. Banking simply preserves your own tissue; it is not a treatment and does not promise any future use.

How soon can I use my banked tissue?

Banking is not a treatment you access on demand. Adipose-derived cell uses are investigational, and any future use would depend on FDA-regulated pathways and your physician’s judgment. Stored tissue being available does not mean a treatment is available.

Is adipose tissue banking safe?

Because banked tissue is your own, it avoids the donor-matching questions associated with tissue from other people. It is not risk-free: collection carries normal procedure risks such as bruising or infection. Processing happens in FDA-registered U.S. laboratories (registration is not FDA approval). Discuss risks with your provider.
